Dr Ampie Niehaus is a clinical microbiologist responsible for overseeing diagnostic services at the microbiology culture laboratories in Cape Town and East London. He focuses on delivering clinically actionable results and provides real-time consultation on test selection, result interpretation, and antimicrobial therapy. He works closely with medical specialists across disciplines to support diagnostic stewardship, manage complex infections, and implement infection prevention strategies -ranging from sepsis and invasive fungal disease to multidrug-resistant organism(MDRO) containment and outbreak response.
