Dr Edward Miles

Dr Edward Miles studied medicine at the University of the Free State and qualified in 2005. His path to histopathology was set in motion after attending his first pathology lecture, delivered by the late Prof Middlecote. He began postgraduate training in 2013 and qualified as a histopathologist in 2018 at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Durban.

In February 2019, he returned to his undergraduate alma mater and joined Ampath Bloemfontein as a consultant histopathologist.

Dr Miles has particular interests in dermatopathology, placental pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, digital pathology, and quality assurance. He currently also serves as the national quality control officer for Ampath Histology.

Outside of pathology, he enjoys woodworking, leather crafting, and travelling with his family.
