Dr Pieter Ekermans

Dr. Pieter Ekermans completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch, where he completed a MBChB degree in 2003. He pursued his postgraduate studies at the University of Witwatersrand, obtaining an MMed (ClinPath) degree in Clinical Pathology in 2012. In addition, he completed a DTM&H in 2006 at the same institution. After this, he spent two years working in the Eastern Cape, based in Gqeberha at the National Health Laboratory Services. Since September 2014, Dr. Ekermans has been part of the Department of Medical Microbiology at the National Reference Laboratory of Ampath Laboratories in Centurion. He has a particular interest in mycobacterial diseases, with a focus on non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease.
