Dr Robert Maritz

Dr Robert Maritz is a senior consultant histopathologist based at the Cedar Road Laboratory in Fourways, Johannesburg. He completed his FCPath and MMed degrees at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2015 and began his career as a consultant histopathologist with the National Health Laboratory Service, where he worked in a high-volume, academic setting. He joined the Ampath team in January 2018.

Dr Maritz has a special interest in breast, prostate, and soft tissue pathology. He contributes to two multidisciplinary breast cancer meetings and works closely with clinicians to support patient care. He regularly attends both local and international conferences, particularly in breast pathology, as part of his commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

With a focus on diagnostic accuracy and collaborative practice, Dr Maritz is dedicated to delivering consistent, high-quality pathology services within the Ampath network.
