Dr Sanele Buthelezi

Dr Sanele Buthelezi is originally from Pietermaritzburg. He obtained his undergraduate medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2011. He performed his two-year internship, followed by one year of community service. Thereafter, he spent 2 years as a medical officer at a District Hospital in Durban.

In January 2017, he started his Registrar training in Microbiology. He completed his postgraduate studies at University of KwaZulu Natal in 2022. Sanele has been employed by Ampath laboratories since January 2023 as a Pathologist in the Microbiology department with involvement in the laboratory diagnostic service, critical care ward rounds, antimicrobial stewardship ward rounds, and infection prevention and control.

His interests include antimicrobial resistance and treatment of tuberculosis.
