Epidemiological Weeks 1 - 22

Percentage of Specimens Positive by Week (Peaks noted):

  • SARS-CoV-2: Stable positivity during the last 4 weeks.
  • Influenza A: Peak positivity of 43.6% during week 20. Most subtyped specimens identified as influenza A H1N1 2009 (82%) and influenza B (17%).
  • RSV: Peak positivity of 27.8% during week 13, declining to 10% by week 22.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae cases per week:

  • Weeks 1-22: 5, 15, 13, 23, 10, 11, 15, 20, 14, 13, 17, 14, 6, 12, 10, 12, 16, 12, 15, 10, 11, 11

Chlamydia pneumoniae cases per week:

  • Weeks 1-22: 5, 7, 10, 8, 18, 12, 15, 22, 7, 15, 18, 30, 17, 20, 15, 21, 30, 26, 25, 23, 16, 21

Legionella pneumophila:

  • 3 cases detected by PCR testing in May 2024.

Additional Comments:

  • Bordetella pertussis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Chlamydia pneumoniae continue to circulate at low levels.
  • Bordetella pertussis most commonly detected in the 1–5-year age group (31%), followed by >18 years (27%), and <6 months (17%).
  • Most cases of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia pneumoniae detected in the 1–12-year age group.

  • 6 - 12 year age group:
    • Influenza A: 45.7%
    • Rhino/Enterovirus: 25.0%
    • Rhinovirus: 17.7%
