Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a group of cancers in which the bone marrow doesn't produce enough healthy blood cells. Instead, the bone marrow makes abnormal, immature blood cells that don't mature properly and can't function as they should. This can lead to various health problems due to a shortage of healthy blood cells.
