Comments:

  • The most frequently detected viruses across all age groups during May were:
    • Rhino/enterovirus (30.1%)
    • Influenza A (24.3%)

Epidemiological Week 1–22:

  • SARS-CoV-2: Positivity remained low at 0.8% in week 22.
  • Influenza A and B: Influenza A increased significantly to 29.9% in week 22. Influenza B remained low at 0.1%. The predominant circulating subtype was Influenza H3.
  • RSV: Peaked at 29.3% in week 16, decreasing to 16.5% in week 22.

Atypical Bacterial Pathogens

Pathogens Covered: Bordetella pertussis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Legionella pneumophila

Comments:

  • B. pertussis, M. pneumoniae, and C. pneumoniae continue to circulate at low levels.
  • Six cases of Legionella pneumophila pneumonia were detected by PCR testing during May.
  • Most B. pertussis cases were in the 1–5 year age group (28%).
  • Most C. pneumoniae cases were in the 1–12 year age group.
  • Most M. pneumoniae cases were in adults aged 19–64 years.
