General Respiratory Virus Findings

  • The most frequently detected viruses across all age groups during September were:
    • Rhino/Enterovirus (28.1%)
    • Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) (11.7%)
    • Adenovirus (9.8%)
  • Epidemiological Week 1–40:
    • SARS-CoV-2: 5.1% positivity in week 40.
    • Influenza A: Gradual increase from week 37, reaching 9.6% in week 39.
    • Influenza B: Remained low; no positives in week 40.
    • RSV: Peaked at 29.3% in week 16, dropped to 1.3% in week 40.

Atypical Bacterial Pathogens

  • Bordetella pertussis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Chlamydia pneumoniae continue to circulate at low levels.
  • Four cases of Legionella pneumophila pneumonia were detected via PCR in September.
  • Age Distribution:
    • Most B. pertussis cases: 1–5 years (31%) and 6–12 years (23%).
    • Most C. pneumoniae cases: 1–5 years.
    • Most M. pneumoniae cases: adults aged 19–64 years.

Paediatric Respiratory Viral Findings

  • <1 year:
    • Most common viruses: Rhino/Enterovirus (40%), HMPV (17.1%), Adenovirus (16.1%)
  • 1–5 years:
    • Most common viruses: Rhino/Enterovirus (49%), HMPV (19.8%), Adenovirus (20.6%)
  • 6–12 years:
    • Most common viruses: Rhino/Enterovirus (30.6%), Influenza A (13.2%)
    • Influenza A positivity increased to 21.5% in week 39
